Trainer Assessor In Aircraft Manufacturing
Permanent, Full-time (36 hours per week). Successful candidates may be required to work some evenings. The post holder will be expected to work across all College campuses. Job Purpose: To train and assess the skills and underpinning knowledge necessary for students undertaking vocational qualifications. Responsible for advising management and curriculum on trends within the engineering and manufacturing sector.

Business School Technician
Permanent, Full-time (36 hours per week) The post holder may be required to work in any of the College’s buildings as necessary. Job Purpose: To provide an efficient, effective, and safe technical service to students and lecturers in support of education and training within all curriculum areas. Supporting classroom practice and learning activities, by ensuring that facilities, equipment and materials are prepared in advance and as directed by lecturers and Managers.
Learning Support Officer
LOCATION: The post-holder will be required to work in any of the College’s buildings as necessary. SALARY/GRADE: Band 5 (£32,597 - £36,363) TERMS & CONDITIONS: Support RESPONSIBLE FOR: The post holder may supervise staff. JOB PURPOSE: To contribute to the development, maintenance and co-ordination of a range of support services for students with disabilities, learning difficulties or long-term medical conditions in order to ensure that students are able to participate fully in their chosen course of study. To assess, monitor and review the additional support needs of students with disabilities, learning difficulties or long-term medical conditions and implement support strategies in line with the requirements of the student pathway in a busy environment. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES To assess and determine the support requirements for students including examination access arrangements, personal and technical support. To identify suitable provision for additional support within existing budgets and guidelines: follow associated policies and procedures. To complete, monitor and review individual student support plans. To review support strategies for students with disabilities, learning difficulties or long-term medical conditions in conjunction with relevant academic staff. To provide information and advice to staff and students in relation to the appropriate procedures for the administration of the Additional Support Fund, Disabled Student Allowance, the implementation of examination arrangements and other support services within the organisation. To provide information, guidance and advice to existing staff and students and prospective students with disabilities. To advise course teams on the implementation of effective classroom strategies which will enable students with specific learning difficulties to successfully complete their course of study. To input, collate and analyse relevant information for reporting and funding purposes. To liaise with external voluntary and statutory agencies in order to ensure a comprehensive service is provided in order to support Belfast Metropolitan College students with a disability and/or additional support need. To contribute to the development of operational procedures and codes of good practice. To assist the Centre Manager with operational tasks. To participate in the selection of staff, in line with recruitment and selection training. To ensure staff maintain a high regard for customer service. General To contribute to the achievement of the College’s mission, values and strategic directions. Participate in the College’s performance appraisal system. Participate in College developments, attend internal and external meetings and training programmes required. Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in College policies. To implement and embed the College’s equality and diversity policies and respond to its equality and diversity duties as they relate to all stakeholders. Act, if directed, as fire marshal or warden. Carry out, if directed, the role of first aider. To undertake such other relevant duties as may be reasonably expected of the post holder. Essential Criteria Qualifications EITHER hold a qualification at a minimum level 5 (e.g. HND) plus have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of assessing and implementing a range of support interventions necessary to meet the needs of young people of post primary age or adults with disabilities, learning difficulties or long-term medical conditions. OR hold a qualification at a minimum level 4 (e.g. HNC) plus have a minimum of 3 years’ experience of assessing and implementing a range of support interventions necessary to meet the needs of young people of post primary age or adults with disabilities, learning difficulties or long-term medical conditions. Knowledge / Experience Demonstrate a working knowledge of the implementation of Examination Access Arrangements for young people of post primary age or adults with disabilities. Experience managing multiple client caseloads in a responsive and efficient manner. Experience using Microsoft Office applications. Outdoor Pursuits Instructor
To be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of outdoor pursuits activity sessions and specialist instructor training programmes across all relevant sites. Supervise and effectively utilize casual, temporary and seasonal staff ensuring all health and safety requirements are fulfilled. Fitness Advisor
Salary: Scale 5 SCP 14-19 £29,540 - £32,061 per annum, pro rata for part time staff (full time equivalent is based on 37 hours per week) JOB PURPOSE: Committing to the one-team ethos, you will be flexible and collaborative and you will actively support all colleagues and other activities necessary to deliver the service objectives. As a Fitness Advisor, you will implement the Council’s Fitness, Education, Rehabilitation, Nutrition (FERN) Strategy and Plans, both inside and outside of the gym environment. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide support, guidance and encouragement to gym users on how to use equipment, ensuring a safe and enjoyable fitness session. Provide customer inductions, exercise programmes and instruction on all aspects of fitness. Monitor programmes and performance of all customers using the NAP model (Name, Aspiration and Performance) within the gym environment. Make all customers feel welcome and comfortable and ensure they are benefiting from the services provided in the gym or centre. Conduct facility tours. Clean and perform daily checks on equipment and complete associated records. Organise and deliver systems and events to enhance the social aspect of physical activity and the centre, helping to create an atmosphere where people interact and feel a sense of belonging. Actively engage with customers to maximise retention of members and users. Deliver presentations and talks at external locations to community groups of all ages and abilities to promote healthy living and well-being and transfer knowledge in these areas to positively impact citizens’ lifestyles (FERN). Working with GP referral colleagues as required, participate in the GP Referral Scheme and other public health initiatives and deliver FERN advice to customers who are recovering from poor health and injury. Deliver nutrition information to customers, as trained and appropriate, to make a positive impact on their health and wellbeing. Assist with the processing of centre memberships. Conduct exit interviews and surveys with leaving members to understand issues around customer retention. Promote and or sell all products and activities within the centre and within the Leisure Services portfolio. Remain fully conversant with all emergency procedures and take part in emergency situations, providing emergency care as required. Provide cover for exercise class instructors, as required. Be flexible and collaborative and actively support all colleagues and other activities or processes which impact on the performance of the centre. Qualifications and training: • A recognised Fitness (Level 2) qualification. • A recognised relevant coaching or group exercise qualification. • GP referral qualification. Experience: • One year’s experience in each of the following: ▪ Working directly with the public within a customer-facing capacity. ▪ Maintaining accurate records. ▪ Completing facility or equipment checks. Key skills, knowledge and attributes: • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Ability to achieve positive results through influencing and interpersonal skills. • Customer care skills. • Ability to work as part of a team. • Ability to work on own initiative. • Ability to handle sensitive or difficult situations appropriately. • Competent in the use of IT. • Understanding of health and safety requirements. • Flexible approach to work demands. Working arrangements and flexibility: 19 hours per week. The post holder will be required to work outside normal hours, including bank holidays, evenings and weekends.
