Role: Community Access Facilitator (Supervisor/instructor Grade) Contract Available: Permanent Part-Time 70/78 Location: Waterford The role of a Community Access Facilitator: The Community Access Facilitator works with Day Services wider team and management as well as members of the multi-disciplinary team. They will also build and maintain working relationships with relevant community organisations, educational providers and local employers. In this role you will take a lead role in supporting people within the framework of New Directions . You will work collaboratively with the person supported, their nominated circle of support to co-produce person-centred plans with ambition and possibility. You will support the person to access mainstream opportunities (education, work, civic life) on the same basis as others, and to challenge structural barriers where they arise. You will promote advocacy and self-direction, ensuring the person’s voice is central to all planning and decision-making bysupporting adults with a disability to speak up for themselves and make their own choices, making sure their views guide all planning and decisions. We are looking for individuals with experience working within the Health Care/Intellectual Disability sector. Candidates need to be flexible and adapt to the needs of particular individual’s they support on a daily basis. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Team Manager/Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications: Candidates must have a good general education. A recognised qualification in the field of intellectual disability or a FETAC level 5 course is an advantage. A full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence is desirable. A commitment to obtaining a full licence within nine months of commencement is required as it is essential that the appointee can drive the transport that is assigned to the Service. Due to the nature and location of services, many service areas require applicants to hold a full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence. Applicants who do not hold a full, clean, manual Irish Driving Licence may not be eligible for work in certain service areas. It may also be necessary for the appointee to obtain a Class D1 Driving Licence (if not already in possession of one). Assistance will be given towards this purpose of obtaining a class D1 licence. A fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. Skills: Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. IT skills are essential. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight The position is based on a 7-day duty roster, involving working sleepovers, split shifts, day and night duty, public holidays and weekend work. Corlann’s - West Region model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant (Disability Services) pay scale as per the consolidated salary scale dated 01st June 2026 - € 34,881 x 11 increments - € 47,624 (Max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €48,434 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. The successful candidate will also be involved in the implementation of an educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programme for adults with an intellectual disability. In line with new directions and extended opening hours the successful candidates will also be responsible for providing family support, coordinating social groups and evening activities and providing one to one supports in the community as required. The successful candidates will also have responsibility in a key worker role for the people supported by the services to form links and interests and partnerships with other community groups. This role will involve working with adults with Autism and complex needs. The instructor will be responsible in supporting individuals with all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes support with meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual.
