Our focus is to form a relationship / partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. The Role: Support Workers provide a key-working supportive role for individuals supported by the Service. This role comprises of two main elements. Firstly the Support Worker is responsible for all aspects of personal care required during the day. This includes supporting individuals with their meals, personal hygiene and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual. Secondly, a major focus of the Support Worker role is to assist and support People who use the Service with development of their Individual Plans and the achievement of associated outcomes, and critically, to support People who use the Service in participating in the ordinary everyday life of the community through inclusive and creative thinking. Reporting/Responsible To: Team Leader/Senior Staff/Team Manager/Service Coordinator. Qualifications: Applicants must have a good general education. A recognised qualification appropriate to the Field of intellectual disability is an advantage. A QQI Level 5 or higher desirable. A full clean manual Driving Licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish Roads and use of your own car is an essential requirement. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. Experience: A minimum 6 months experience of working in working in a health care setting and experience of supporting individuals with an Intellectual Disability is desirable. Experience of working with Individuals who display behaviours that challenge is an advantage. Skills: Candidates must be able to demonstrate flexibility, communication and team-working skills, together with an enthusiasm for the post. Some basic IT skills is also an advantage. Working Hours: All posts are based on a 14 day duty roster. The successful candidate will be required to work over a fortnightly duty rosters with evenings and weekends been part of the working roster. There may be occasional split duty hours. Sleep-ins and night duty are a requirement of these posts in order to meet service needs. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days pro rata per annum. Remuneration: € 34,036 x 13 increments - € 46,652 (Max) pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) € 47,454 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. The researcher will collaborate with HSE Spark teams, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to co-design, prototype, and evaluate design-led interventions, while disseminating impact through research outputs, publications, events, and public engagement. This position provides an opportunity to advance and apply expertise in design research for health within an interdisciplinary environment. The role is based in the Product Design Department at NCAD and operates under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. CUH currently employs approximately 4,571 (WTE) staff of multiple professions and is the primary teaching hospital for the Faculty of Health and Science in University College Cork (UCC). UCC is the Academic partner of the HSE South West. CUH has very strong relationships with each of the six schools within the Science Faculty of UCC and this is a key area for future development to maximise the opportunities for both the service and academia. CUH is a recommended Major Trauma Centre for the Republic of Ireland due to the wide range of specialties delivered by the hospital – including Neurosciences, Cardiac Services, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Renal, Internal Medicine, Vascular, Ophthalmology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Maxillary-Facial, Paediatrics, Intensive Care, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Gynaecology, Neonatology and Emergency Medicine. CUH is the tertiary referral centre for the HSE Southern area, and the supra regional area of Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, Waterford and Kilkenny. CUH therefore acts as a regional centre for secondary and tertiary care for the catchment population of approx. 550,000 served by the HSE Southern area and a supra-regional centre for a total a population of 1.2 million. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019. Each Health Region will be tasked with population-specific planning resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population.
