Clinical Nurse Co-ordinator For Children With Life Limiting Conditions
Purpose of the Role The purpose of this post is to support a prioritised service need as outlined in Palliative Care for Children with Life-limiting Conditions – A National Policy 2009 . Key objectives include: · Improved quality of life for children and their families · Improved co-ordination of services to children with life limiting conditions so that they can be cared for in the home setting as far as possible. · To facilitate education and training for health and social care professionals in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. · To act as an informed resource and link person for children and family carers and for health and social care professionals involved in the care of children with life-limiting condition · To link with Children’s Primary Care Services, PHNs, Disability Services, Adult Specialist Palliative Care Teams and voluntary organisations. · To increase awareness of children’s palliative care · To plan, implement, deliver and evaluate care for a caseload of children with life-limiting conditions and their families, in collaboration with local healthcare professionals/carers. Each Regional Department of Public Health is led by an Regional Director of Public Health, assisted by Consultants in Public Health Medicine and a multidisciplinary team, and delivers services across the four domains of public health: health protection, health service improvement, health improvement, and health intelligence. The Department of Public Health – HSE Dublin and Midlands apply infectious disease epidemiology and knowledge of the demographic and socio-economic profiles of the populations they service to provide statutory public health functions including expertise, advice and support, to internal (National, Hospital, pre-hospital and Community Services) and external partners (e.g., Environmental Protection Agency, Irish Water, Port Authorities Local Authorities etc.). The Departments also provide advice to the general public, and a range of local partners, organisations and services within their regional areas. The Public Health Service function is embarking on a programme for strategic structural reform to implement a new operating model for Public Health service delivery. The reform programme outlined for Public Health Service and/or the wider Health Service may impact on this role, and as structures change the job specification may be reviewed. The primary purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive business support to the Regional Director of Public Health for HSE Dublin and Midlands, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Regional Director’s office. Title of Post: Physicist, Chief (Radiology & Nuclear Medicine), Cork University Hospital Details of Service: The person appointed to this post will work within Radiology Physics as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality radiology physics services to the Cork-Kerry region of the HSE South West · Cork University Hospital · University Hospital Kerry · Bantry General Hospital · Mallow General Hospital · St. Finbarr’s Hospital The above hospitals provide acute hospital care for the population of Cork and Kerry (almost 740,000 at the 2022 census). Radiology Physics is expected to play an integral role in supporting clinical services through its excellent scientific and educational expertise. A strong education and research ethos is evident in its contribution towards postgraduate courses and clinical research. In addition to acute hospital services, services are provided to 35 community dental practices in the region. The department provides a radiopharmacy service and support for the radiotherapeutic use of radio-isotopes at Cork University Hospital. Support for non-ionising radiation services such as phototherapy treatments and lasers are also provided to some hospitals. Expansion of these services shall occur in accordance with appropriate Service Level Agreements. Purpose of Post: · To establish, lead, develop and manage the Radiology Physics Department in Cork University Hospital. · To provide leadership to support the hospital group in meeting its legal requirements. · To provide support in the expansion and development of the Radiology systems in the Department which will ultimately include MRI & U/S. · To initiate and develop new projects within the physics department and hospital network. · Provide a leadership role in education and training. · Lead in the development of collaborative research and development activities in medical physics.
