The current service referred to as Mayo Community Living provides a community service to the People we support in numerous community homes across Co. Mayo. The service is divided into distinct service areas within Co. Mayo. De-congregation of the Swinford location is ongoing. Reporting Relationship Mayo Community Living – The Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability will report to the Team Leader/Clinical Nurse Manager in their service and/or the Clinical Co-ordinator or Area Manager Purpose of the Post Mayo Community Living – To assist in the provision of health and social care for adults with an Intellectual Disability. The Care Assistant Intellectual Disability provides direct care in line with the Individual’s Person Centred Plan Principal Duties and Responsibilities Service needs will require movement of Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability staff between Designated areas/locations. Below is an outline of the principal duties a Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability may carry out, as assigned and as directed. · Support the People we support in directing their own lives in accordance with their cognitive and physical abilities in an environment that reflects the comforts of home. · Support improved opportunities for the People we support to have meaningful relationships with families and friends by making them welcome partners in the residential home. · Respect the People we support, their families and each other as individuals showing dignity, courtesy and professionalism at all times. · Act as an advocate for the People we support. · Actively promote the participation of the People we support in the running of their home. · Promote the social interaction of the People we support with the community, including facilitating the ongoing involvement in their personal interests, hobbies etc. · Assist in the provision of a quality service by promoting and adopting a philosophy of care and working in line with national and locally devised Policies, the Regulations and National Standards for Residential Services for Adults with an Intellectual Disability. · Ensure that care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner and that the dignity and spiritual needs of the People we support is respected. · Contribute to the development of a multidisciplinary assessment and person centred care plan and assist in its implementation and evaluation in consultation with the resident and family/representative as appropriate. · Carry out the role of a Link worker as allocated for named People we support. · Carry out assigned and delegated responsibilities involving direct care and all activities of daily living to assist the People we support maintain standards of personal hygiene, laundry, dietary intake, physical, mental health and any other personal needs. · Actively support the People we support with their compliance in taking prescribed medication, and recording of same. The role of Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability in medication administration will be service specific and appropriate training and supervisions will be provided. · Actively participate in the cleaning of houses, utility rooms, equipment, kitchens and bedrooms. Ensuring infection control guidance is adhered too. · Prepare and serve food as appropriate in accordance with safe food handling policy and undertake training as per service need. · Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the smooth running of the house. · Contribute to the maintenance of updating documentation. · Maintain the confidentiality of all information made available to him/her during the course of his/her work · Support the people using our services to maximise their independence and quality of life while protecting individual health and safety. · To draw up a plan of care based on the People we support needs, while involving the person in all aspects of their care and lifestyle whenever possible. · The support individuals where appropriate in line with their personal plan or where supervisory instruction is received in areas such as documentation and medication administration. · To be a fully integrated partner in the interdisciplinary team. · To practice within the guidelines of current legislation · You will be required to accompany/drive (in service vehicle) People we support to their activities or social outings · Actively support people with their compliance in managing their finances and spending their money and recording same. The role of Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability in finance will be service specific. Health & Safety The Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability will: · Conduct him/herself in a manner that conveys respect of the individual and ensures safe resident care. · Report any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of residents, staff or visitors and take appropriate action. · Understand and adhere to all HSE and service specific policies, guidelines and procedures and the Site Specific Safety Statement. · Apply precautions at all times to minimise the risks of cross infection e.g. clean up any spillages of bodily fluids, wear personal protective clothing and use equipment provided appropriate to the task. · Ensure that all equipment is stored and cleaned correctly, and storage areas are kept clean and tidy. · Report any breakage or malfunction of equipment to technical staff and /or appropriate others. · Present to work wearing the agreed attire and identification, having regard to the highest standard of attire and personal hygiene. · Participate in Fire prevention procedures and precautions as per policy and other emergency requirements. · Have a working knowledge of the HIQA Standards as they apply to the role, for example; Standards for Healthcare, National Standards for the prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections, Hygiene Standards etc and comply with associated HSE protocols for implementing and maintaining these standards. · In accordance with Health and Safety at work policy, it is each staff members responsibility to observe all rules relating to Health and Safety and Conduct at Work and to use any equipment provided in a safe and responsible manner. · Understand and adhere to all relevant HSE policies, guidelines and procedures, comply with health and safety, infection control and risk management procedures, comply with statutory obligations · Report any accidents, near misses to the person in charge and ensure completion of incident / near miss forms. Have a good knowledge of the risk management systems in their area and their responsibility in same. · Do not undertake any duty related to resident care for which he/she is not trained. · Attend training courses as required e.g. Studio 3, Manual Handling, CPR, Hygiene, HACCP, Fire Prevention etc. You are responsible for completing mandatory training and ensuring compliance is maintained. · Support, promote and actively participate in sustainable energy, water and waste initiatives to create a more sustainable, low carbon and efficient health service Education & Training The Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability will: · Attend induction and mandatory in-service education · As directed participate in the induction of new staff · Maintain continuous personal development and participate in team based development, education, training and learning. · Participate in appraisal and the development of a personal development plan in conjunction with his / her line manager. · Participate in e-learning & on line training as mandated. Administrative Duties: The Care Assistant, Intellectual Disability will: · Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the smooth running of the Designated Centre · Contribute to the maintenance of updating documentation · Responsible to ensure that appropriate communication takes place with individuals receiving a service, colleagues and external parties. Working Week The standard weekly working hours of attendance for your grade are 39 hours per week. Your normal weekly working hours are 39 hours. Purpose of the Role The successful candidate will work in The Alders Unit, a specialist child sexual abuse service. The appointee will be responsible for providing social work supports to children and families impacted by child sexual abuse. Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and / or Experience: 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc (a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition: - (i) Be a registered Midwife on the active Register of Nurses & Midwives held by An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) or be eligible to be so registered. AND (ii) Be registered in the Midwife Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) Register for which the application is being made or be entitled to be so registered. OR (iii) In exceptional circumstances, which will be assessed on a case by case basis be registered in another Division of the register of Nurses & Midwives. Alternatively provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 9 or higher standard, relevant to the specialist area of care (equivalent to 60 ECTS or above), and in line with the requirements for specialist practice as set out by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery 4th ed (2008). For Pregnancy Loss / Bereavement Care prior to application* (See Note 1 below) . AND (vii) Be required to demonstrate that they have continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the specialist area. Purpose of Position: The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of the College by delivering high-quality teaching in business analytics and applied finance across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Family Work Co-ordinator
Job Purpose: The Family Work Coordinator will manage the Family Team, coordinating and offering services to families with children aged 0–3 years of age. The role will be to provide a support service to Tier 2 families with children 0–3 yrs, in a sensitive and non-discriminatory manner, offering practical and emotional support to enable families to manage their daily lives with increased confidence and independence. This will be offered to families living within the Lisburn Sure Start catchment area. The post holder will play a key role in supporting parents to make informed decisions about their own and their children’s needs whilst developing strong partnership links with core services as well as community and statutory projects. This will be achieved through a combination of home and community-based work focusing on the needs of families and children in order to assist the Sure Start team in achieving the aims and objectives of the Project. The post holder will be responsible for organising and implementing programmes with ante-natal as well as post-natal mothers living in the Lisburn Sure Start catchment area. Main Duties and Responsibilities: • To carry out project induction to all Family Workers within the Project. • To line manage and supervise the Family Worker team and conduct Bryson Pathways Annual Performance and Development Records. • To provide appropriate in-house training to staff to ensure safe and effective delivery of all aspects of programme and service delivery. • To carry out initial visit with all families and registration to the Project and conduct an assessment using the Outcomes Star Model to provide the appropriate intervention and services for the family’s needs. • To process referrals to the Family Team and to arrange home visits for staff in line with the family pathway and Outcomes Star. • To sign post families on to appropriate Sure Start services and programmes or signpost to other agencies where necessary to ensure the most appropriate support for the family. • To contribute to the delivery of services designed to improve the wellbeing and opportunities for children aged 0–3 and their families. • To promote the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of children and to work in the interest of children at all times. • To support families, particularly women during the antenatal stages and postnatal stages of pregnancy by visiting them in their own homes or at local venues convenient for the family, to introduce them to and raise their awareness of the services provided to ensure they are able to access these. • To provide families with programmes, information, advice and guidance and signposting on various issues. These may include: antenatal and postnatal care, nutrition, breastfeeding and postnatal depression in a variety of settings on a one to one basis and in groups. • To identify barriers to accessing services within the local community and contribute to overcoming these barriers for all target and disadvantaged groups. • To assist in the development of services to support families. Where possible to work alongside other agencies / organisations in the development of initiatives to meet the Lisburn Sure Start core purpose. • To represent the interests of Lisburn Sure Start by attending and contributing to interagency meetings and working closely with colleagues across the locality. • To design and deliver courses and / or groups, relevant to Infant Mental Health, antenatal and postnatal issues adhering to good practice protocols. • To encourage and support new mothers with breastfeeding advice in both antenatal and postnatal stages of pregnancy. • To deliver a supportive and tailored service to children and their families, using the Outcomes Star Model. • Work with new parents including young mothers to support the development of their confidence and knowledge in parenting. • To empower families to engage in support, enabling a person-centred solution focused approach to family support where the service user guides the package of support. • Undertake training sessions and personal research to keep updated with relevant initiatives and health issues. To take responsibility for disseminating information to the rest of the Lisburn Sure Start team through presentations and training sessions. • To provide feedback as part of the monitoring and evaluation of the service delivery across Lisburn Sure Start and to contribute to quarterly and annual review of the programme, this may result in different patterns of service delivery. • To create and maintain accurate records of families using Lisburn Sure Start services and monitors them accordingly. This will include using paper and computer-based systems. • To maintain at all times a professional manner and appearance.
