The personal assistants will prepare the women for attending day services and support them with meaningful evening and weekend activities in accordance with their will and preference. It is of utmost importance to ensure they continue to have choice and control over the activities they wish to undertake and the service provided. The personal assistants will work closely with the parents and family to assist them in preparing to move out of the family home to a supported living environment in due course. THE POSITION: Waterford City & County Council invites applications from suitably qualified persons who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which temporary contracts for the role of Seasonal Amenities Worker for the Summer Season (June to September 2026) will be recruited. Seasonal Amenities Workers will be recruited in the Metropolitan Municipal District, the Comeragh District and the Dungarvan/Lismore District. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Targeted Litter & Waste Duties · Manual Litter Picking: Systematic removal of litter from beaches, footpaths, parks, walks and Council amenity areas. · High-Frequency Bin Emptying: Maintaining a rigorous schedule for emptying public waste and recycling bins to prevent "nuisance" overflows. · Blackspot Monitoring: Conducting extra patrols in known "litter blackspots" or areas with high footfall. · Hazardous Waste Removal: Identifying and contacting GSS to arrange for safe disposing of dangerous items like broken glass, medical waste, or animal carcasses. · Fly-Tipping Response: Reporting any larger dumped items (e.g., household bags or appliances) found in remote park areas or beach car parks to the GSS · Dog Fouling Control : Promoting the "Bag It, Bin It" message and ensuring specific dog waste bins are serviced regularly General Duties · Litter Collection - Perform regular patrols to collect and dispose of litter from beaches, parks, and streets. · Waste Management: Empty and reline public waste and recycling bins at scheduled intervals. · Amenity Upkeep : Remove litter from playgrounds, cemeteries, and picnic areas and all amenity areas ensuring they are free of debris. · Beach Maintenance : Conduct beach clean-ups, including the removal of washed-up waste as directed. · Public Conveniences: Replenishing supplies in Public Toilets during hours of duty · Public Interaction: Respond to public enquiries politely and report any anti-social behaviour or infrastructure damage to supervisors. · Health & Safety: Undertake training for Health & Safety, and general performance as assigned; · Interpersonal: Be responsible for the maintenance of good work practices and working relationships; · Collaborative Support: Liaise with community groups like Tidy Towns and assist with other tasks in the area as directed by the GSS. · Communication : Maintain and communicate information for the effective delivery of service; · Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures and legislation; · Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility and mobility consistent with the needs of the service; · Team Work : Co-operate with the familiarisation/instruction of other employees where appropriate; · Resource Management: Manage and maintain resources effectively and efficiently; · Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POST 1. CHARACTER Each candidate must be of good character. 2. HEALTH Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service. 3. The salary shall be fully inclusive and shall be as determined from time to time. The rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with government policy. The holder of the position shall pay to the local authority any fees or other monies (other than inclusive salary) payable to and received by him/her by virtue of his/her position or in respect of services which he/she is required by or under any enactment to perform. Superannuation Superannuation contributions as relevant will be deducted. Hours of Work Seasonal Amenities Workers will be required to work 30 hours each week over 5 days as part of a 7 day weekly rotating roster . Weekend work is an intergral part of this role and only those with availability to work weekends should apply. All hours worked are subject to and recorded in accordance with the provisions of the Organisation of Working Time Act, 1997, and the Organisation of Working Time Regulations, 2001. Waterford City & County Council requires employees to record their hours using the CORE/TDS Clocking system. Annual Leave The annual leave entitlement for the 4 month period is 7 days. One weeks notice to the GSS is required for all leave requests. Granting of leave is not guaranteed at peak times. Residence The successful candidate shall reside in the district in which his/her duties are to be performed, or within a reasonable distance thereof. Code of Conduct/Organisational Policies Employees are to be required to adhere to all current and future Waterford City & County Council codes of practice including Code of Conduct of Employees and all current and future organisational policies including, but not limited to Health and Safety, Communications, Data Protection, Equality, Staff Mobility, Attendance Management and Use of Electronic Equipment. A system of regular appraisal will be operated during employment, which will involve discussions between the employee and the line manager regarding performance and conduct. Location HSE Dublin and South East (Carlow Kilkenny South Tipperary Waterford and Wexford) Purpose of Post HSE Dublin and South East (Carlow Kilkenny South Tipperary Waterford and Wexford) Adult Mental Health Services,is a service that serves both an urban and rural communities. The continued development of recovery orientated services is a key priority of mental health services. The development of the framework for recovery in Mental Health sets out an understanding of recovery and recovery orientated services, the core values that underpin it and the actions and measures that support such a service. This is also in line with Mental Health Ireland’s strategy 2025-2027 – Empowering, Educating and Connection Communities (Priority Area 1, Objective 1.) HSE mental health services, under the Mental Health and Engagement and Recovery Office, are working towards developing a strong recovery oriented practice approach to service delivery. The Recovery College South East and Involvement Centres are part of these initiatives, and were developed to support a whole service approach to recovery orientated services and to actively support the development of peer led centres. The Recovery College South East is based in Kilkenny, and has responsibility for delivering recovery education and training in Kilkenny, Carlow Waterford, Wexford and South Tipperary. All workshops and training are developed and delivered by those with lived experience of mental health challenges, and/or are supporting a family member/friend who has lived experience alongside those who work in mental health services. Involvement Centres are peer led drop in centres located in Carlow, Kilkenny and Clonmel, open to people aged 18yrs and over. The centres offer a warm welcoming space in which mental health and addiction challenges are understood to be a part of life and are accepted in a non-judgemental way. It is a place where people who have experienced mental health and/or addiction challenges, and their carers and supporters can meet on a regular basis for a chat over a cup of tea. HSE mental health services provide the financial and legal governance for both projects. Working as part of a team, the Administration Office supportsthe day-to-day operations, communications and administration of the Recovery College South East and the Involvement centres. We are recruiting another administrator officer, who will report to the Recovery Coordinator, or in the absence of the Coordinator, the Peer educator. The Administration Officer will work directly with the team to support operations and progress the strategic aims of the organisations Eligibility criteria and qualifications The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in administration or office management. A recognised qualification in office administration or a related discipline would be an advantage.
