Dispenser/Trainee Dispenser
We have an excellent opportunity for a qualified Part Time Dispenser/Trainee Dispenser to work in our Portavogie branch. Working 8 hours per week, between the hours of 10.00am to 2.00pm Monday and Thursday according to the rota. Additional hours may be required from time to time and applicants must be fully flexible to work according to the rota. Working as part of a team duties can include; sales of over the counter medicines, providing customers with information on symptoms and products, prescription receipt and collection, date checking, and the ordering, receiving and storing of pharmaceutical stock. Walking For All Officer

Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary: To develop, co-ordinate and sustain regular volunteer-led walks in towns, villages and rural communities throughout the Council area, through the recruitment, training and support of Volunteer Walk Leaders to in turn increase the number of people walking and meet the objectives of the Walking for All programme (see note re background to Role), alking For All is a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body, (SEUPB). Duration of Appointment: Fixed Term contract from January 2026 to 31 December 2028, subject to funding (this duration may vary if funding concludes earlier or may be extended) Hours of Work: 36 hours Monday to Friday Hours of work are kept under review and may change in order to meet operational requirements, providing requisite notice. Location: Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick or Newry Leisure Centre, Newry. Sports Development Manager

Job Summary Responsible for assisting the Head of Outdoor Leisure in developing and implementing the Council strategies and the department business plan, all within their area of responsibility and budgets. They will be responsible for the managing of services of all sports development programmes and schemes under their control in the pursuit of excellence and value for money. Hours of work 36 hours. Duration of Appointment Permanent. Work Pattern 36hrs Monday – Friday. Post holders must be prepared to work outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and Public and extra Statutory Holidays for which the appropriate payment will be made or time in lieu granted if relevant. Location Down Leisure Centre, Downpatrick or Newry Leisure Centre, Newry. Salary PO3 SCP 34-37, currently £45,091 - £48,226 per annum based on a 36 hour week (pro rata to hours worked), (plus 19% employer pension contribution).
Recycling Attendant
Job Summary: The post holder will be primarily based at one of the Councils 9 Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) but may be required to work at any of the other HRCs on occasion to meet the needs of the service. The post holder will be responsible to the HRC Supervisor for the day-to-day operation of the Councils HRCs. To undertake all duties associated with the operation of the Household Recycling Centre/Amenity Site to ensure that all domestic and commercial waste is disposed of in accordance with the Council’s policy for recycling whilst providing the highest level of customer care at all times. The Household Recycling Centres are licensed Waste Management facilities and must operate in accordance with licensing conditions stipulated by DAERA (NIEA) including being manned at all times whilst open. The post holder will be required to work unsupervised and must demonstrate good customer care with site users. The postholder is required as key-holder to open and close the site Please note:

This includes supervision of staff and of activity and ancillary areas, lifeguarding and cleaning and upkeep of facilities and equipment as required. As National Pool Lifeguard Trainer Assessors, postholders are responsible for the delivery of lifeguard qualification training for all relevant staff (ie wet side lifeguards, supervisors, swimming teachers) and maintenance of qualification programme in order to retain NMDDC accreditation as a Institute of Qualified Lifeguards Approved Training Centre.
