Production Operative

We are recruiting for a Production Operative to join our Production Team, to operate bagging equipment. In this role, you will operate a bagging machine that packages animal feed into bags ready for storage and customer delivery. You will monitor the machine to ensure it is running correctly and that products are bagged, labelled, sealed, and palletised to the required standard. The role also includes carrying out quality checks, completing production records, rotating stock, and keeping your work area and equipment clean, tidy, and safe. A good level of mechanical awareness is desirable, as you will be working with automated machinery. You should also have good attention to detail and be able to follow product specifications and production instructions accurately. This is a hands-on role in a busy manufacturing environment. The role involves working three 12-hour day shifts per week , Wednesday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm , with occasional Saturday work during busy seasonal periods. Full on-the-job training will be provided.

Purpose and Function of Post This recruitment exercise will be used to fill Driver vacancies that may arise within the Mid Ulster District i.e. including Cookstown, Dungannon and Magherafelt (full-time, part-time, permanent & temporary). A Driving Assessment will form part of the selection process. Applicants must undertake a minimum of 35 hours driver CPC training during a five-year period to maintain their entitlement to drive. The successful candidate(s) will be required to undertake training on the operation of the Council’s OAV’s and achieve competence in operating this type of vehicle on a typical OAV route within 6 months of commencement. The post holder will only be established in post i.e., made permanent upon completion of a satisfactory 6-month probationary period which will include competence in OAV operation. The Council may retain a list of reserve candidates arising from this recruitment campaign, for any vacancies which may arise which are the same or similar and are of an equal grade of pay. This list will be valid for 12months. “Another similar vacancy” is defined as a post with a similar job description and person specification and on the same salary scale, which may be in a different department or duration to the vacancy initially advertised. Another similar vacancy does not include posts where the similarity relates solely to the salary scale.

General Operator

To operate machinery and equipment in all areas of the plant as and when required and to deal with the acceptance and processing of plastic waste in compliance with all legislative and administrative requirements. The role is for shift work operating on a three shift rotating cycle. Key Responsibilities To carry out all required general operative duties which may include, but which will not be limited to: • processing of plastic waste as required • operation of equipment such as shredders, wash plant and extruder as required • loading and unloading of vehicles as required • additional services developed or offered by the company • To conduct your duties in accordance with company standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the company’s waste licence • To complete all paperwork and administration necessary as requested by your supervisor or as the business needs dictate • To adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and procedures at all times, including but not limited to: • To wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) at all times • To highlight any safety concerns to your Manager immediately and to report any accidents/ incidents to your Manager immediately • To report all non-conformances to the relevant personnel and to follow up to ensure compliance requirements are met • To ensure that housekeeping is kept to a high standard around the site and that all activities comply with health and safety requirements • To communicate any issues that arise to the Operations Manager/ Supervisor immediately • To attend plant meetings, company meetings, training courses etc. as required • To provide direct operational support to any and all areas of the business as required and as reasonably requested by the company including but not limited to support for off site operations (e.g. waste oil and garage services, field services) • To be flexible to carry out other duties as may be requested of your Manager from time to time • To communicate any issues that arise within the plant/ process to the Production Manager or next most appropriate person immediately • To maintain vehicles, work equipment, materials and PPE clean and in working order and to report any loss or damage immediately • To carry out checks , inspections and audits as directed The above description is a general outline of the requirements of the role.
