Annual Leave Entitlement : 34 days Overview of the Post: Enable Ireland delivers children’s services under the national Progressing Disabilities Services (PDS) model for children and young people with complex needs arising from a disability. As a Lead Agency within this model, Enable Ireland has responsibility for the delivery of services to children assigned to Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNT) within designated network areas. Services are provided in accordance with legislative and service delivery frameworks and requirements, within the resources allocated. As a senior member of the interdisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for the provision of psychology services, including assessment and intervention to children and adolescents enrolled on the CDNT. Services will be provided across a variety of settings including the clinic, schools, preschools and special schools, children’s homes and community settings. The aim of our services for people with an ID and physical or sensory disabilities is to promote and maintain better health both in the person with a disability and their carer. We deliver day and residential services. This is a service, which has undergone significant changes in line with National Policy and has progressed from an institutional model of care to a community based person-centred model. Six Health Regions have been established within the HSE, on the basis of the geographical boundaries agreed by the Government in July 2019 and they will be operational from 2024. Each Health Region will be tasked with population specific planning, resourcing and delivery of health and social care services for the needs of its unique population. This will result in improved accountability and governance in terms of finance and performance, while also bringing decision-making closer to the frontline. Health Regions will enable and empower staff to provide services that are: · Integrated, locally planned and delivered · Easier to access and navigate · Available closer to home Health Regions are geographically-based units with clearly defined populations. They align community and hospital services within specific areas. The HSE will retain a strong but leaner central organisation, with more service provision developed at a local level. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be assigned to the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS) in Cork/Kerry working as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to client care. Kerry CAMHS consists of two community teams; North Kerry CAMHS based in Tralee and South Kerry CAMHS based in Killarney. Cork CAMHS consists of eight community teams across Cork city and county, along with specialist teams including Child & Adolescent Eating Disorder Service (CAREDS), CAMHS-MHID, Eist Linn adolescent inpatient unit and CAMHS Hub (currently in development stages). The Senior Occupational Therapist will carry a complex caseload and will complete occupational therapy specific assessment and intervention looking at the impact of the child or young person’s moderate to severe mental health difficulty on their occupational performance. As part of the MDT, the Senior Occupational Therapist will complete some generic CAMHS work such as initial assessments and will hold a key working role. The Senior Occupational Therapist may be responsible for supervision of staff grade Occupational Therapists and will have a role in the development of the CAMHS Occupational Therapy service. The CAMHS Occupational Therapy service in Cork Kerry is comprised of Senior Occupational Therapists and Staff Grade Occupational Therapists. Please Note: DSKWW 25-52 Nursing Practice Development Coordinator (Mental Health) (Grade Code 2445) Location of Post New Service Development Child & Young Person Mental Health Unit at New Children’s Hospital The NPDC will be required to travel and attend routine meetings in Dublin (Herberton Offices, Rialto / La Touche House, IFSC, Ballyfermot) and other locations as required. Duration of Post There is currently a 12 month Specified Purpose Contract available – The post holder will be a member of the CYPMH Commissioning Team during the period up to the opening of the New Children’s Hospital. This team is currently led by a Clinical Project Lead and a Clinical Director and wider Leadership team will be stood up in the coming months. ·It is planned that this Commissioning team may transition into the managerial and clinical MDT structures to open the new services in the Child and Young Person Mental Health Unit, in the New Children’s Hospital (NCH). Details of Service As part of the new children’s hospital, there will be a new 20 bed Child and Young Person Mental Health (CYPMH) inpatient unit, to be staffed and delivered by Mental Health services within the hospital. This aligns with National Policy (VfC, MOC Paediatrics) and is a key Government, Department of Health and HSE project. The 20 bedded unit will function as two distinct pods catering for Acute/Emergency and Eating Disorder presentations, each operating as a member of a national network of such units located in Dublin, Galway, and Cork. The unit will have a regional and national remit for the treatment of the most intensive presentations in line with the CAMHS Operational Guideline. The objective of the service is to provide a cost-effective, evidence based, and outcomes focused inpatient service to improve the mental health of young people who are admitted with severe and/or complex mental health conditions. The service will; · Provide a multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment, care and treatment undertaken to meet the mental health, physical, educational/occupational, social and spiritual needs of the young person. · Provide treatment within a safe, effective, age appropriate and therapeutic environment · Involve young people in actively planning and participating in their care wherever possible and ensure effective communication and involvement of parents/ carers as appropriate · Aim to facilitate early, safe and sustainable discharge planning and support so as to ensure that young people spend the least amount of time in the inpatient unit · Collect and use feedback from young people using the service and parents/carers in the monitoring of service quality and in service development The successful candidate for this role will be a critical member of the project team, leading the design and delivery of technical and operational requirements to meet the needs of the Child and Young Person Mental Health Unit. Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the largest single multi-speciality hospital in Ireland. It is the only Level 1 Trauma Hospital in Ireland. Regional specialities include neurosurgery, plastics and burns, cystic fibrosis and cardiac surgery. It is the centre in Cork City and county for trauma orthopaedics. The Physiotherapy Department provides physiotherapy care within Cork University Hospital, St. Finbarr’s Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and Cork University Maternity Hospital. The service also provides weekend and on-call services respiratory and orthopaedic services under specific criteria. The postholder will be required to participate in this. Flexibility will be required with regard to the working week as the post holder may be required to give classes/cover clinics in the evening and at weekends. Cork University Maternity (CUMH) Hospital opened in 2007 and involved the amalgamation of maternity services from Erinville Hospital, St. Finbarr’s Maternity Hospital, Bon Secours Maternity Unit and gynaecology services from Cork University Hospital. The CUMH physiotherapy service provides an in- and outpatient service to the specialties of obstetrics, gynaecology and neonataology in CUMH as well as Colorectal and Urology in CUH. Currently working in the service, there is a Deputy Manager, Clinical Specialists for Mesh complications, Clinical Specialist for Postnatal, Seniors Physiotherapists and Staff Grades. This post is primarily to support the provision of service to patients with pelvic floor dysfunction.
