Role Purpose The Handset Financing Technical Accountant is responsible for compiling, reviewing and ensuring that the data included in our financial statements in relation to handset financing is accurately reflected. The remit of the role will initially be focused on the handset financing project. This will consist of working as part of a project team that are responsible for getting handset financing set up operationally. As the process is imbedded, the role will have responsibility for the month end reporting, in-depth analytics, balance sheet reconciliation along with driving continuous operational improvements. Key Accountabilities Project Implementation Technical Accounting – Working with both IFRS 9 and IFRS 15. The understanding of both these standards, along with the accountancy impact of derecognising receivable assets and the impact of selling debt are key skills. Project Management – To oversee the progress of the project and to manage project timelines effectively. Process Mapping – Track and manage all commercial propositions which impact handset financing to ensure there are no implications to selling the debt. Relationship Management - Working across numerous different functions and owning the relationship with Vodafone Overseas Finance Limited (VOFL) to ensure all third-party bank requirements are met. Controls Implementation – Design and implementation of a controls framework to enable continued derecognition of the contract asset receivable and accurate accounting based on strong source data. Financial Reporting & Analysis Managing the derecognition of the IFRS 15 contract asset on a monthly basis. Ensuring that appropriate adjustments are posted to IFRS 15 revenue and also to our debtors ledger upon sale of the debt. Track and manage both the IFRS 15 contract asset and the data for the debt sale, ensuring appropriate reconciliation between both data sources sufficient for audit sign off. In depth analysis, looking at trends to provide insights to a wide variety of stakeholders. Accurate balance sheet reconciliation reporting ensuring appropriate classification. Work closely with the credit management team to obtain the collections history data requirements needed to calculate the finance charge. Ad-Hoc Reporting requirements from a wide variety of stakeholders. We Are Looking For You, If You Have Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA), with 3+ years post qualification experience. Technical Accounting skills are a must for this role. Excellent analytic skills with commercial acumen. Strong prioritisation, organisational and people management skills. Awareness of IFRS & Local GAAP, knowledge of financial reporting, audit & compliance. Ability to communicate and adapt communication style to a wide variety of stakeholders.
