Riverside Place provides supported housing to vulnerable young people aged 16-21 years. The young people who are leaving care, or who become homeless, are supported in their journey towards securing accommodation best suited to their individual needs, whilst providing practical and emotional support. Some young people may arrive at our projects with a complex history which can include self-harm, trauma, isolation, poverty, difficulty in forming relationships / trust, and exhibit behaviours and risks associated with their experience. Your new role As a Support worker you will ensure that you listen to the needs and feelings of the young person to enable you to facilitate any necessary help that they need, including interventions and signposting them to other support services to give them every opportunity to get the help that they need and deserve. You will assist the young people to cope with significant changes associated with adulthood, encourage them to make their own decisions and educate them on general life activities in terms of health, hygiene, finance, housing, etc. You will work as part of a team to maintain tidiness, cleanliness and hygiene standards in all communal areas ensuring all health and safety requirements are met. The home has been designed with the differing cognitive, social, and physical abilities of the residents in mind. Our aim is to provide the best possible care to frail older people, including those living with dementia. We promote the use of familiar and recognisable surroundings and activities to stimulate residents’ memories. Visual clues throughout the design help residents with recollection to avoid confusion and increased anxiety. Additionally, it creates opportunities for staff and residents to interact more easily in activities of daily living. Recycling Centre Attendant
Location: Post 1: Armagh Amenity Site, Armagh Post 2: Banbridge Recycling Centre, Banbridge Post 3: Newline/Fairgreen Amenity Sites, Portadown The post holders may be required to work at other locations throughout the Borough. Salary: Scale 3 SCP 7-9 £26,403 - £27,254 per annum, weekend enhancement may be earned. Hours: Post 1: 37 hours per week Post 2: 37 hours per week Post 3: 29.6 hours per week (Monday to Saturday) plus additional hours as required. Evening and weekend working may also be required. Start and finish times will vary depending on work location. JOB PURPOSE: The post holder will work as a team member in recycling centres and/or as a lone worker on specific sites, and undertake duties associated with site operations and liaise with customers and contractors. To ensure safe and appropriate disposal of waste and operate recycling centre plant and equipment. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as a key holder and be responsible for the security system and the opening up and closing of the Recycling Centre. Comply with all Safe Systems of Work and Health & Safety procedures on site. Assist/direct members of the public to deposit their material in the correct skip or recycling container in line with the Council’s Recycling Policy and provide necessary information to them e.g., leaflets. Maintain the site in a clean and tidy condition, free of litter. Keep records of the number of skips/containers emptied each day, and of when recycled materials are removed from the site. Operate Council charging systems for trade waste delivered to the site. Organise and direct the work of any casual operatives, temporary and agency staff at the site. Carry out minor maintenance on site. Receive and organise the handling and storage of any special wastes such as refrigerators, batteries, oil wastes etc. Organise the collection of the recycling material and items for reuse. Operate compactors, ensuring that all waste is compacted to minimize waste contamination. Adhere to all legislation pertaining to deal with hazardous materials. Ensure material is not removed from the site by unauthorised persons. Operate all plant, equipment, vehicles and machinery and report all defects. Load and unload vehicles as required, i.e. promotional/stores items. Deal with the distribution of home composters, compostable food caddy liners etc. to members of the public, and ensure stock is accounted for. Clean and maintain all equipment/tools issued and report any defects immediately. Wear issued protective clothing at all times and use equipment safely. Carry out all tasks as per work schedule and ensure all relevant forms are completed on a daily basis e.g. daily check sheets and diary. Report all accidents/ incidents & near misses to your Line Manager immediately. Liaise with Line Manager and co-operate with other employees in running a safe and effective Recycling Centre. Have due regard for your own health & safety and the safety of your work colleagues and the general public, and observe all Council health and safety rules, regulations and procedures. Responsible for delivering high level of customer care and dealing with customer queries in line with the Councils Customer Care Policy. In the absence of the Supervisor, undertake relevant duties as and when required on a rotational basis. Participate in all induction and training provided by council (including COTC where relevant), share knowledge particularly to newly appointed staff. Undertake any other relevant duties that may be required and are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post. Experience • 1 years’ experience in each of the following areas: ▪ Operation of plant and machinery; ▪ Working in a customer service capacity.
