Clinical Lab Analyst

Working Hours / Shifts: 4 on, 4 off: 8pm to 8am and 8am to 8pm alternating shift pattern. (Night shift allowance given) For this position, as you may be in contact with live blood samples, you must be vaccinated against Hepatitis B or be able to get it following a successful interview stage. The main duties of the role include: Routine use of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMs). The performance of various analytical procedures including various manual screening and automated methods covering a wide variety of clinical diagnostic tests. The preparation and handling of samples and diagnostic reagents. The operation of various automated analytical systems such as Rx Daytona Plus, Rx Imola and Siemens Immulite XPi. The accurate maintenance of analytical records. Strict adherence to chain of custody procedures throughout the analytical process. The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation. The preparation of specimens for transportation to ensure that their stability is safeguarded during shipment to the appropriate analytical laboratory. Recording and Monitoring of temperature for Laboratory and Equipment. Perform troubleshooting on technical issues associated with Clinical Diagnostic Testing. Ensuring that all the necessary Quality Control checks are completed daily and that they meet internal criteria. Participation in Quality Audits. Essential: Qualified to at least degree level in Biomedical Science, Biochemistry or a life science. Demonstrable experience of working with strong attention to detail. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Currently have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship. Desirable: 1 year laboratory-based experience as Scientist or a Lab Analyst. Practical experience using automated analysers. Experience in a private healthcare setting. Some of the key duties include: 1) The smooth and efficient running of the Randox Clinical Laboratory Services ensuring that all laboratory based testing for clinical diagnostics and clinical trial samples is conducted accurately in conjunction with Randox standard operating procedures and in-line with ISO/IEC 17025 (2005), and MHRA Good Clinical Practice guidelines. 2) The supervision of staff and the allocation of duties including: - The performance of various analytical procedures used in analysis of clinical trial samples and clinical diagnostics. - The routine maintenance and calibration of analytical instrumentation. - Analysis and submission of all appropriate clinical proficiency testing programs. 3) Ensuring that all members of the team are performing optimally according to their level. 4) The training and development of staff and the conducting of regular training reviews and Appraisals. 5) Providing advice and guidance on technical issues associated with clinical diagnostic testing and analysis of clinical trial samples. 6) To ensure best practice in the provision of a clinical diagnostic service and to keep up to date with latest developments and trends in clinical diagnostics. 7) Ensuring that the analytical facilities and testing equipment provided by RCLS are maintained and developed in line with market and regulatory needs. Essential criteria: Qualified to at least degree level in Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology or a Life Science. Experience in diagnostic testing and reagent applications. Previous laboratory experience. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Strong leaderships skills and a high level of self-motivation. Knowledge of a variety of software packages including Microsoft packages such as Excel, Outlook and Word.
