Volunteer And Community Support Officer

In 2021 we achieved the Investing in Volunteers Award for our volunteer programme, demonstrating our commitment to providing an excellent volunteering experience. We successfully renewed this accreditation in 2024. The Volunteer and Community Support Officer will assist the Volunteer and Community Manager with recruiting, training, supporting and developing our Volunteers in line with the Investing in Volunteers’ standards. This is an exciting opportunity to join St Joseph’s as we continue to grow our volunteer and community programme. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to have a positive impact in the lives of our volunteers and people living with dementia. Main Responsibilities · Assist with recruitment and reference checking/screening of all volunteers · Support and maintain good communications with all volunteers · Maintain and update databases and files, including mandatory training records, in line with GDPR regulations · Support the Volunteer and Community Manager as a point of contact for all volunteers · Assist with development and implementation of programmes that promote the continuous improvement and engagement of all volunteers · Cultivate a positive and supportive atmosphere by recognising volunteer efforts · Assist with implementation of Community initiatives, e.g.; Community Café, Dementia Café, Tennis Programme, Bowling Programme, Schools Programme · Provide additional administrative support to the overall Volunteer and Community Department as required · Undertake additional duties or tasks as required. Essential Experience · Third level qualification · Previous experience of recruiting and engaging with volunteers · At least 3 years’ experience of the community and voluntary sector in Ireland (paid or voluntary) · Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team · The ability to manage a varied workload and problem-solve · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Excellent organisational skills · Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, social media and design packages. Desired Experience · Knowledge of dementia and dementia related issues · Previous experience of organising and running events. The initial purpose of this post is to arrange appropriate service provision for a person with a disability, in accordance with the assessed needs and having regard to the available resources. To provide the service statement for each applicant and ensure that the services committed to in the service statement are delivered within the time frames specified. Case Manager: The main functions of the Disability services post (Case Management) are as follows: Case Management: Case management is a system for the planning, co-ordination and delivery of services using individually tailored Care Plans, having a person-centred approach and multi-disciplinary focus. The Case Manager will fulfil the role of a dedicated person who may organise, co-ordinate, and sustain a network of formal and informal supports and activities to optimize the functioning and well-being of people with multiple needs. The Case Manager will be a central point of contact to assist the individual to navigate and negotiate available systems in their community and on discharge from hospital services. Personal Assistant Allocation Process: With the oversight of the Disability Services Manager, the case manager will be responsible for the acceptance of applications for PA services and for the assessment, prioritisation, allocation of hours, monitoring of delivery of PA services and dealing with all related issues. Service Lead: The case manager will act as a Service Lead with relevant service providers to deal with day to day operational issues and to ensure that the Service Arrangement Contract in place with HSE is being adhered to.
