BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION PERMANENT AND TEMPORARY COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKERS FAILTE COMMUNITY SERVICES, GALWAY CITY & COUNTY JOB REF: 82452 A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Permanent and Temporary Community Support Worker appointments may be made over the next 12 months within Fáilte Community Services. Location: Failte Community Services is a Community Outreach Programme which provides multi- disciplinary support to Adults with a Mild Intellectual Disability. Many of those we support wish to live independently in Galway City and County, to access education, work/leisure activities and community day services for young adults graduating from school or training programmes as well as those needing support with making informed choices, daily life issues, relationships and health and well-being. The service aims to promote independence through enabling adults to live a full and active life safely in their communities. This is achieved through the provision of therapeutic supports, frontline services and the promotion of meaningful community engagement. We work in on going partnership with people supported by the service and other agencies to maximise the use of community resources. We provide a services which are person centred and individualised, adaptable and versatile in order to respond to the needs of people supported by the service. All the supports are underpinned by our BOC policies and procedures, Personal Outcome Measures, Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015 and HSE Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse. The Role: Community Support Workers Horizon Programme provide a key-working supportive role and assist in the delivery of community support to individuals with Mild Intellectual Disability and sometimes a secondary diagnosis of Mental Health, some of whom may present with behaviours or lifestyles that can be deemed as challenging. This role comprises of mainly one to one working with individuals in the local community or sometimes in their own homes. A vital part of our Community Support Worker role is developing a community profile through; researching the local area, linking with local organisations and clubs, liaising with educational and training bodies and building positive and lasting relationships with all public and private services who assist the individuals we support to live independent lives in their communities. A major focus of the Community Support Worker role will also be encouraging and assisting individuals supported to develop their own life plans based around needs and interests. The Community Support Worker will work closely and inclusively with significant others involved in the individuals life such as family / next of kin and be supported and guided their practice by service social work, psychology, psychiatry and management when required. The Community Support Worker Arts Alive will work in our community based service in Galway City working in an exciting service with people who have a passion for life and for the arts. The team there are looking for a person who “must have a passion for supporting our Rights”, “must at all times Respect us”. They must have a passion for the arts or a willingness to support us in our passion. This includes supporting us in areas developing our independence and support needs so that we can be as creative as possible. Reporting/Responsible To: Senior Staff/Team Leads/MDT where appropriate/Service Coordinator/Service Manager Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Working Hours: Permanent part-time CSW Arts Alive – 60 hours a fortnight Temporary full-time CSW Horizon Services x 2 – 78 hours a fortnight All posts are rostered over a 14 days. These posts are mainly day service hours but evenings and weekend work will be required on occasion. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours in order to ensure the provision of high quality services for each individual. Annual Leave: 22 days per annum Remuneration: Department of Health Care Assistant (Disability Services) salary scale 01/03/2025 - €33,699 x 11 increments - €46,190 pro rata per annum. LSI Long Service Increment - €46,984 pro rata per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale. Additional payments will be made for weekends, public holidays and night duty when worked. Location: Cregoran service is a community-based day and residential service in the environs of Galway City. Cregoran provides individualised services, centre and community based day Services, and a variety of residential and respite services to adults with high support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Our focus is to form genuine relationships and partnerships with each person supported and their family, to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We work to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their local communities and to have the chance to form real friendships. Reports/Responsible To: Team Leader/ Service Coordinator Qualifications/Experience/Skills: Working Hours: 30 hours a fortnight based on a 7 day duty roster. Location: Cregoran Services is a progressive, dynamic and developing service located in and around Claregalway, Co. Galway. Cregoran provides a variety of residential, day and respite services to adults with intellectual disabilities who have very high support needs, grounded in the use of personal outcome measures. The Role: Minibus Driver/Porter Reporting/Responsible To: Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications/Experience: • Candidates must have received a good general education and hold a full clean Driver’s Licence – Class D1 is an advantage. • Candidates must have completed their CPC examinations/modules and must hold the CPC Qualification Card. This must be produced and checked at the interview. • The successful candidate must have adequate training and driving experience to enable them to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post and ideally have some experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. • Experience in general maintenance provision is an advantage.
