DAT Library Coordinator

The Role: The Digital and Accessible Technology (DAT) team is an exciting new team within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland West Region (BOCSI-WR). We are committed to bringing Assistive Technology (AT) and clinical specialists together to enhance the lives of people supported. As part of this team, you’ll get the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team, use state of the art equipment, and bring your own creativity into the role. This position is supported by ReThink Ireland funding under the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 3.0 for a maximum of 8 months ending on or before 31st of March 2026. Reporting To/ Responsible To: DAT Officer and the Speech and Language Therapy Manager. Works with: ·        People supported and their circle of support ·        Frontline staff ·        Multi-disciplinary staff ·        Digital and Accessible Technology Team ·        Assistive Technology Working Group ·        Advocacy group ·        Educational, Health, Vocational and Community agencies Qualifications/Experience/Skills: ·        Third level qualification in a relevant field such as Assistive Technology, Health and Social Care professions, Teaching, Computer Science, Creative Multimedia, etc. or a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a relevant field. ·        Competency and experience in the supervision of staff. ·        A keen interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities. ·        Demonstrates passion for technology and have a good understanding of how technology can support individuals to achieve their goals. ·        Have proficiency in using and troubleshooting various digital and assistive technologies ·        Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. ·        Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. ·        A full clean driving licence and the use of one's own car is essential. ·        Ability to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service. ·        Excellent organisational skills and administrative skills. ·        Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. ·        Excellent IT skills.   Highly Desirable: ·        Competency in the support of people with an intellectual disability in an employment environment. ·        Completed Foundations in Assistive Technology Course Level 5 Accredited by Technological University Dublin. ·        Working knowledge of the Microsoft Power Suite. ·        QQI Level 5 Intellectual Disability Practice. ·        QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight based on a 5-day Monday to Friday basis. Flexibility may be required in order to meet Service demands. Annual Leave: The annual leave attached to this post is 22 days per annum. Remuneration: Department of Health Instructor/Supervisor salary scale ( 01/03/2025 ) - €35,081 x 12 increments - €50,864 per annum basic before premium pay (pro-rata), commensurate with qualifications and experience. Tenure: This post is temporary, full time and pensionable on a specific purpose basis until the end of March 2026 linked to a temporary funding. Travel/Base: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty. The position will be based within the West Region. The base for this purpose will be determined on appointment but a minimum of two days in Roscommon is essential. Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the posts. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer's discretion. Principal duties and Responsibilities:Administrative and Operational ·        Responsible for administration tasks for the Digital and Accessible Technology (DAT) Library ·        Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the DAT Library including loans, equipment maintenance, and support ·        Collect detailed data on the effectiveness of the DAT Library in accordance with agreed key performance indicators ·        Monitor the engagement, needs, and interests of people supported and work with the DAT Officer to respond to service demands  ·        Provide support and training to people supported employed in the DAT Library ·        Contribute to the development of the DAT Library Training Programme for People Supported ·        Lead the rollout of the DAT Library Training Programme for People Supported ·        Provide administrative support for iPads across the region via the Mobile Device Management (MDM) System ·        Provide administrative support to any ongoing projects within the wider DAT Team ·        Co-design and co-develop accessible resources and instructional videos for Assistive Technology Devices in the DAT Library. ·        Engage with local libraries and organisations to map the range of assistive technology available within the West Region ·        Co-develop and co-deliver training and workshops on assistive technology for staff and people supported ·        Support the DAT Team to deliver DAT Roadshows and develop additional social and educational events for staff and people supported to gain education, experience, and exposure to assistive technology. ·        Coordinate Gaming events and workshops for people supported. ·        Contribute to multi-disciplinary assistive technology clinics, working collaboratively with the DAT Assessment Team, multidisciplinary and/or frontline staff, and the Person Supported. ·        Support the DAT team to research and explore the assistive technology options for people with high support needs to promote active participation in daily living skills, enhance communication, and support greater autonomy and independence. ·        Support the wider DAT Team with the development of new and existing projects ·        Work with Advocacy groups to ensure that views and needs of people supported are central to service development.   Organizational ·        Follow all reporting procedures as per organization guidelines. Report any abuse concerns immediately to the Designated Person and to your Manager or any other person designated by the manager. ·        Follow all Policies and Procedures of the service at all times. ·        Be aware of and become familiar with fire drill procedures i.e. fire detection, evacuation and fire-fighting. ·        Be conscious of Health & Safety matters in the workplace and, in particular, to comply with employee obligations as set out under Section 9 of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005. ·        Ensure that all accidents/incidents to the people supported, staff and visitors are reported promptly. ·        Ensure that the strictest confidentiality is maintained on all matters relating to the people supported. ·        Attend mandatory and relevant training as required ·        Ensure continuing professional development (CPD) particularly in the area of advances in digital and accessible technology. ·        Engage in regular supervision with manager and peers. ·        Document and keep appropriate records in line with organisational procedures. ·        Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or any other person designated by the manager. The role of the post holder will not be limited by reference to this job description. It is expected that the role will evolve and develop as required by professional, structural, and people supported demands, requiring the post holder to demonstrate a high degree of flexibility to facilitate this.

Cregoran provides a variety of residential, day and respite services to adults with intellectual disabilities who have very high support needs, grounded in the use of personal outcome measures. We aim to support people to participate in the everyday life of their community, to have ordinary life experiences, and to create opportunities for the people we support to form real friendships. The Role: Minibus Driver/Porter Reporting/Responsible To: Service Coordinator/Area Manager Qualifications/Experience: ·        Candidates must have received a good general education and hold a full clean Driver’s Licence – Class D1 is an advantage. ·        Candidates must have completed their CPC examinations/modules and must hold the CPC Qualification Card. This must be produced and checked at the interview. ·        The successful candidate must have adequate training and driving experience to enable them to carry out satisfactorily the duties of the post and ideally have some experience of working with people with an intellectual disability. ·        Experience in general maintenance provision is an advantage.
