The Dublin North Addiction Service consists of eight dispensing sites – seven Addiction Treatment Centres (ATCs) and one residential stabilisation unit with a total number of 800 individuals attending these dispensing sites. Within this service each member of the pharmacy team works collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the clinic site and reports directly to Bláithín Cotter, Chief ll Pharmacist, The pharmacy department is responsible for the dispensing and supply of opioid agonist therapy (OAT) i.e. methadone and buprenorphine as well as other directly observed therapy associated with their addiction. Within each ATC the pharmacy staff work within the collective of the Multidisciplinary team. The pharmacy discipline is responsible for monitoring medication safety including identification of possible interactions. The current dispensing platform is QicScript. HMMS is the national project which will replace the current legacy pharmacy software and will also provide a platform for electronic prescribing and electronic medicines administration (EPMA *subject to availability) This initial phase of the project involves the deployment of the HMMS Pharmacy stock control software system. The current post is to be a member of the local HMMS team.
