Each Regional Department of Public Health is led by an Regional Director of Public Health, assisted by Consultants in Public Health Medicine and a multidisciplinary team, and delivers services across the four domains of public health: health protection, health service improvement, health improvement, and health intelligence. The Department of Public Health – HSE Dublin and Midlands apply infectious disease epidemiology and knowledge of the demographic and socio-economic profiles of the populations they service to provide statutory public health functions including expertise, advice and support, to internal (National, Hospital, pre-hospital and Community Services) and external partners (e.g., Environmental Protection Agency, Irish Water, Port Authorities Local Authorities etc.). The Departments also provide advice to the general public, and a range of local partners, organisations and services within their regional areas. The Public Health Service function is embarking on a programme for strategic structural reform to implement a new operating model for Public Health service delivery. The reform programme outlined for Public Health Service and/or the wider Health Service may impact on this role, and as structures change the job specification may be reviewed. The primary purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive business support to the Regional Director of Public Health for HSE Dublin and Midlands, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Regional Director’s office. The successful candidate will play a key role in project management activities, including tracking progress, preparing reports, and supporting various project initiatives. Title of Post: Physicist, Chief (Radiology & Nuclear Medicine), Cork University Hospital Details of Service: The person appointed to this post will work within Radiology Physics as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality radiology physics services to the Cork-Kerry region of the HSE South West · Cork University Hospital · University Hospital Kerry · Bantry General Hospital · Mallow General Hospital · St. Finbarr’s Hospital The above hospitals provide acute hospital care for the population of Cork and Kerry (almost 740,000 at the 2022 census). Radiology Physics is expected to play an integral role in supporting clinical services through its excellent scientific and educational expertise. A strong education and research ethos is evident in its contribution towards postgraduate courses and clinical research. In addition to acute hospital services, services are provided to 35 community dental practices in the region. The department provides a radiopharmacy service and support for the radiotherapeutic use of radio-isotopes at Cork University Hospital. Support for non-ionising radiation services such as phototherapy treatments and lasers are also provided to some hospitals. Expansion of these services shall occur in accordance with appropriate Service Level Agreements. Clinical Nurse Manager, Trials And Research Unit
The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team who engage with researchers and clinicians to support clinical research within the CTRU. Within the remit of this post, the successful individual will have responsibility for a caseload of patients on clinical trials and research projects. The individual will be expected to lead under direction of the Clinical Director and CNM2 in areas such as audit and staff education and to make an important contribution to papers arising from studies undertaken by the CTRU. The Clinical Research Nurse will support the ongoing strategic development of the CTRU in expanding our service to include selected phase I clinical trials. Clinical Nurse Manager
We are seeking experienced and dynamic staff to join our fast-paced Emergency Department and Trauma Reception Unit. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centred care in a busy clinical environment. As Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) 1, the post holder will work in the Emergency Department (ED) which contains the newly established Trauma Reception at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, one of Ireland’s two designated Major Trauma Centres (MTC). The primary role of the CNM 1 will be one of clinical and professional leadership and development in the nursing team, including the development of advanced clinical skills by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and arranging for clinical experience and supervision of student nurses, where appropriate. The post holder will have specific responsibility for the education, professional development and mentoring of staff to ensure staff meet the required competency to deliver on the agreed standards for patients accessing care via the Emergency Department pathway. The CNM 1 will be liable to work over a 24/7 period and reports to the CNM 2 shift leader operationally and is responsible for the management, care and treatment of service users, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided within the designated area(s) of responsibility. Staff Nurse
We are seeking experienced and dynamic senior staff nurses to join our fast-paced Emergency Department and Trauma Reception Unit. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality, patient centred care in a busy clinical environment. As a staff nurse, the post holder will work in the Emergency Department (ED) which contains the newly established Trauma Reception at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, one of Ireland’s two designated Major Trauma Centres (MTC). The role involves providing high-quality, patient-focused care across all areas of the Emergency Department. The post holder will be exposed to all areas of the ED, developing core skills essential for emergency and trauma care. The post holder will be orientated and equipped with the necessary skills to confidently work in the minors, majors, triage and resuscitation environments. This position is ideal for nurses looking to further develop clinical leadership, decision making and critical care skills. You will be supported through a clear and structured career progression pathway with opportunities to develop into clinical management, education and training or advanced clinical practice. Further education and up-skilling is available including access to trauma accredited courses to enhance knowledge and clinical practice, in-house education by our Emergency and Trauma SDF’s and weekly simulation attended by all members of the MDT.
