The Kilkenny Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland is now recruiting for a part time Branch Administrator to join the Team. We are dedicated to enabling people with Down syndrome to live life to the fullest. We aim to do this throughout their life through social, educational, and developmental activities. Working as a member of the Kilkenny Branch Team, you will be involved in the development and delivery of a dynamic, volunteer led service for the Down Syndrome Community in the county. As Branch Administrator, you will actively engage with members, families, carers, and stakeholders in providing a strong service for our membership. Responsibilities: Act as first point of contact for new members. To service the administration need of the Branch on a consistent basis and when required involving: dealing with the public, National Office, funders and Donors, programme deliverers etc, To regularly update, organise and expand information and resources and ensure information is accessible to members and their families. To liaise with local and national authorities regarding available grants. To build relations with National bodies, including local representative such as DFI, National Disability Authority, Inclusion Ireland etc. To support the Advocacy activities within the branch To support members and families in accessing training and support both within the branch and externally through providing information, materials and organising training / support events. To assist in administrative functions of the Branch. To research and record queries and report on member’s needs, monitor new needs and report to the Committee To support the running of the Afterschool programme and the provision of weekend hobbies and out of term activities To support the allocation and provision of therapies, social outlets and respite for members. To engage in the promotion of Down Syndrome Kilkenny, through positive PR, attendance at events, and other opportunities. Manage the Branch’s social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, What’s App etc. Provide clerical support to the branch committee to include invitations to training courses for families, mailings, and any other correspondence as delegated Update the management Information system Undertake bookkeeping duties to include purchase/sales invoice management Ensure all receipts and payments are recorded correctly and submitted to National Office monthly Ensure all financial documentation is maintained and filed correctly Ensure all income and expenditure is recorded correctly on the appropriate support system. Prepare creditor payments and undertake credit control duties where required Ensure grant income recorded and expended appropriately Support Branch Treasurer with financial reporting and operations Liaise with Down Syndrome Ireland National Offices regarding financial queries/requests Ensure that effective safety procedures are in place to comply not only with the Health, Safety and Welfare at Work act but also within Down Syndrome Ireland’s policies and procedures (e.g. Safeguarding) Regular travel may be required to attend meetings and events Ad-hoc administration duties. Experience Required: At least 2 years administration to include accounts administration experience. Experience of the needs of people who have a disability and their families Excellent organisational and timetabling abilities Strong attention to detail and numerical skills Excellent communication, research and interpersonal skills Strong IT Microsoft office skills, word, excel and PowerPoint Previous experience working on accounts Excellent telephone manner Own vehicle is essential with a full clean drivers’ licence The Branch Administrator will have working relationships with people inside and outside the Branch. It will demand working with the public, members, families, carers, staff and volunteers of the Branch. Hours & Location: This is a part time position working initially 8 hours per week. This may increase over time. The initial contract is for 12 months. The days of work can be negotiated. Occasional weekend and evening work will be required to facilitate branch committee meetings and branch social events. This role will be based on on-site working in Kilkenny City
Relief Care Worker
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland works across the country in the heart of local communities providing dementia specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their Carers. Our vision is an Ireland where no one goes through dementia alone and where policies and services respond appropriately to the person with dementia and their Carers, at the times they need support. A national non-profit organisation, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is person centered, rights-based and grassroots led with the voice of the person with dementia and their Carer at its core. The ASI is currently recruiting for a Relief Care Worker, who will work in Kilmurry Court, Garryowen, Limerick, V94 DR60. This is a permanent contract. You will work as the need arises. Reporting to the Day Centre Manager, the Care Worker is responsible for providing person centred care to people with dementia, addressing their needs and enhancing their quality of life. To be successful in this role you will need experience of working with people with dementia, older people or people with intellectual disabilities. FETAC level 5 qualification is desirable but not essential. You will need good communication and organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Salary will be commensurate with the care sector, and dependent on relevant experience.
